Bag a new retail perspective

Property company Capital & Regional takes visitors on a virtual tour of its shopping centres at its recently launched website. Adam Tinworth reports

Capital & Regional, the specialist retail and property investment company, has launched a corporate website, www.capreg.com. The site contains the usual information you’d expect: corporate details, retail portfolio, news about initiatives, an investor centre and a news section.

One unusual touch, though, can be found in the retail portfolio section. It uses iPix technology that enables the viewer to navigate around a virtual 3601/4 photograph of the shopping centres, from several viewpoints.

Sarah Carrell, head of corporate communications, says: “We wanted to provide for all our key audiences, in particular investors, retailers and journalists, an information site that was ‘leading edge’ in its approach. The ability to show our retail and leisure properties in the medium allows us to communicate more effectively.”

Jonathan Henley of PH2 Ltd, which created the images, adds: “We are delighted to have used this technology successfully within the retail property sector and create for users a virtual image, enabling them to imagine they are actually standing in the shopping centre itself.”
