DLA is to merge with US law firm Piper Rudnick LLP following a simultaneous partner vote.
The combined organisation, which will be known as DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, will have around 2,700 lawyers in 18 countries and projected revenues of $1.5bn.
The merger will become effective from 1 January 2005.
