The Duchy of Lancaster appoints a new advisor for its property portfolio

The Queen has appointed Robert Hildyard QC as legal advisor for the Duchy of Lancaster’s £240m property portfolio.

Hildyard, a barrister at 4 Stone Buildings, takes over from Michael Briggs J as attorney general and serjeant on the estate.

The Duchy, which manages 47,000 acres of agriculture, commercial and residential property across 11 counties, provides the Queen with an income of around £10m pa.
