Property adviser of the year –residential Award 2013 winner: Savills
Christmas isn’t the only thing to look forward to in December. It’s also EG Awards time. And if you can claim a win, well, all Christmases arriving at once comes to mind.
Justin Marking, head of UK residential at Savills, will tell you so. “Internally, we made a big noise about this award,” he says. “It was definitely a feel-good factor for the staff and was very important for morale.”
For one night a year, the ballroom of the London Hilton is neutral territory. The awards – and the refreshments – help to promote cameraderie, and although a “healthy competitive spirit” exists, as Marking recalls, there’s back-slapping aplenty from a variety of business associates. “After the event we got congratulatory notes from both clients and competitors, which was fantastic,” he says.
The trophy now takes pride of place in the client reception area of Savills’ HQ. It was an outstanding achievement for the firm, which has been quick to see its value as an image enhancer.
Ed Lewis, director of Savills’ London residential development team, says: “It endorses our reputation as the leading residential adviser, and we are proud to be able to reference it. It’s great for recruitment too. Potential employees want to work for an award-winning company.”
Especially at Christmas, no doubt.
What the sponsor says:

As one of the UK’s largest residential landlords, active across the PRS and ground rent markets, we understand the importance of well-considered advice. Regis has been particularly impressed by the quality and range of services being provided across the residential sector by this year’s finalists, including their investment in staff training and retention. The finalists have been involved in numerous landmark transactions both in London and throughout the United Kingdom, clearly demonstrating the buoyancy of the residential sector.”
