Persimmon Homes has won consent to bring forward a £65m housing-led regeneration project in Coventry, West Midlands.
Plans for over 700 new homes and 37,700 sq ft of employment space have been given the go-ahead on the derelict former Courtaulds factory site, off Foleshill Road.
The first phase of development will see 113 new homes built on the 48.4 acre brownfield site.
Andy Peters, managing director for Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: “This is an area which has become derelict and needs investment. We know there is a need for housing here.
“All together we are building more than 1,100 new homes across four sites in Coventry, which proves our long-term commitment to the city.”
Plans include retaining the façade of the main factory, which has been vacant since 2007. Persimmon has also agreed to contribute over £700,000 towards local education.
