The South East has come out on top in LSH’s Vitality index, with five conurbations in the region featuring in the top 10.
The report measures the success of regional towns and cities based on their local economies, support for growth and the opportunities available for businesses to expand.
Guildford, Brighton, Reading, Milton Keynes and Oxford all placed in the top 10. Guildford (pictured) topped the table, overtaking Cambridge. Oxford entered the top 10 for the first time after receiving a large amount of retail investment.
In general, economic output in the regions is estimated to have increased by 3% during 2014, compared to 1% in 2013.
