Bruntwood Works and Trafford Council have exchanged contracts to acquire a £50m regeneration opportunity in Altrincham near Manchester.
The joint venture will see Bruntwood Works more than double its retail and leisure portfolio, with the acquisition of Stretford Mall, Stamford Quarter Shopping Centre in Altrincham high street, and Clarendon House.
It builds on the council’s plans to revive Stretford through its Civic Quarter Masterplan. The plan aims to boost the area from Lancashire Cricket Club to Manchester’s Old Trafford ground.
Councillor Andrew Western said: “Acquiring Stretford Mall will be a massive boost to the area and our residents, with the opportunity for comprehensive redevelopment to also include our Lacy Street site. I know residents have been calling out for more investment in the area and we are listening to them.”
Andrew Cooke, regional director at Bruntwood Works, said: “Altrincham town centre is one of Greater Manchester’s biggest success stories in recent years, soaring in footfall, economic growth and consumer appeal, so we’re thrilled to be part of its journey.”
CBRE advised Bruntwood Works and Trafford Council.
