The Ritz hotel may be for sale, if anyone fancies stumping up £800m to buy it.
The billionaire Barclay brothers, who own the Piccadilly icon, W1, are canvassing interest among potential suitors, with Blackstone and the Qatari royal family thought to be interested. Other sovereign wealth funds could also be looking.
An £800m sale – which equates to £6.1m a room – would represent a reasonable return for the brothers, who bought the hotel in 1995 for £75m.
