Grosvenor boosts innovation drive with new hire

Grosvenor Britain & Ireland has made a new senior hire as part of a push to help the business react more quickly to digital disruption and changing demands from tenants.

The business has hired Hema Selvaraj as innovation director. Selvaraj has previously advised companies including Tesco and the Disney Store on adapting their digital and commercial strategies.

Selvaraj and colleagues will work across the Grosvenor portfolio, including its estate in Mayfair and Belgravia, its planned build-to-rent project in Bermondsey and a new regional investment strategy.

The innovation division will focus on investment in new projects and technologies that will let the business respond to new needs from residents, tenants and visitors.

Sam Monger, director of strategy and research at Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said: “The needs of our residents, customers and tenants are changing rapidly, and we need to be more competitive and agile to ensure we remain a commercially, socially and environmentally sustainable business.

“From improving air quality and the sustainability of our developments to continuing to attract businesses, retailers and customers to our destinations, innovation is one of the biggest levers we have.”

Selvaraj said: “We live in a fast-changing world where business models are constantly evolving to address changing customer behaviours, technological advancements, macroeconomic trends and environmental concerns. As they say, change presents opportunity and innovation holds the key to unlocking this opportunity.”
