The Co-op has created a community garden at its Long Buckby food store in Northamptonshire.
Teaming up with the Long Buckby Gardening Club, the disused space has been designed to nurture community spirit and well-being while connecting children from local schools and nurseries with the natural environment.
The area has been used to plant trees, flowers and a variety of edible herbs which the community will be able to pick.
Redrow raises £11k
Redrow’s South East division has raised £11,000 for charity in three separate challenges. Employees completed a 125km bike ride, a 13-mile walk along the Thames Path and the 26-mile Yorkshire Three Peaks Charity Day hike.
The funds have been donated to the British Heart Foundation, the Heart of Kent Hospice and medical research charity Funding Neuro.
Berkeley’s 68-storey challenge raises £22,000
A race to the top of South Quay Plaza in the Berkeley 68 Challenge has raised £22,000 for charity.
The 68-storey challenge was undertaken by Berkeley Homes (Capital) staff, subcontractors and consultants, at the Berkeley Group’s Canary Wharf development.
The initial £11,000 raised was matched by Berkeley, doubling the total donation made to the Berkeley Foundation to support young people across London and the South East.
Kingsley Napley wins WellChild award
Law firm Kingsley Napley has been named winner of the Volunteer Award in the WellChild Awards 2019. The team was recognised for the work it carried out for the WellChild Helping Hands home improvement programme – a project that aims to make life-transforming improvements to the homes and gardens of families of seriously ill children across the UK.
St Modwen helps out on the school run
St Modwen Homes supported International Walk to School month by donating high-visibility vests to all of the pupils at the Mease Spencer Academy in Hilton, Derbyshire.
The annual initiative, which takes place in October, encourages families to leave the car at home and get active and energised at the start of the day by walking to school safely.
The event was spearheaded by UK charity Living Streets, whose mission is to “create a walking nation, free from congested roads and pollution”.
Barton Willmore reaches new heights
Staff at Barton Willmore have raised more than £2,000 for the homeless charity Centrepoint. The eight colleagues from the London office completed the Three Peaks Challenge, conquering Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in less than 24 hours.
