Gloucester council buys retail park

Gloucester city council has bought the St Oswalds retail park from Hammerson for £54m.

The council is one of several that have spent huge sums on retail property, in a bid to both add an income stream to their slashed-back budgets and as part of wider regeneration plans.

Gloucester council has built up an £80m property investment fund since 2017, matching that with loans from the Public Works Board.
