Sajid Javid has set March 11 as the date for his tax-and-spend Budget, promising to pour billions into infrastructure spending.
The Chancellor is due to confirm the date of the Budget today as he visits the Trafford Park tramline project in Manchester.
He is expected to commit £80bn to new projects over the next few years as the centrepiece for plans for “a decade of renewal”, with the focus to be on struggling towns.
