Poole-based MC Plan & Site Services has sponsored a team of volunteers to help a local community in Nepal rebuild a school destroyed by an earthquake in 2015.
The 10 trade volunteers spent 12 days in the Nepalese town of Nuwakot where they helped to complete the rebuilding of a community school. To improve the learning environment for the local children, the group undertook refurbishments of the classrooms and maintenance of the school grounds and built a toilet block.
Raising nearly £3,000 towards the project, the volunteers included: Helen Cook, Mark Cook and Ben Oxland of MC Plan & Site Services; Alexandra Eaton of AE Marketing Solutions; Chris Cowley of Chris Cowley Interior/Exterior Decorating; Kenny Tucknott of Sunseeker; Penny King of Planning Precision Bournemouth; Adam Ayling of Griffiths and May Carpets and Flooring; plasterer and builder Michael Fraser; and Tim Collier of Lilliput Electrical.
Cowap joins the Big Sleep Out
Rural chartered surveyor and EG columnist Charles Cowap and friends have raised £635 as part of an international initiative to help homeless and displaced people around the world.
The group were among an estimated 50,000 people around the world who spent a night sleeping outside as part of the World’s Big Sleep Out in December. The event set a target of raising enough money to help one million people who have no choice but to sleep outside every night.
The event is run in partnership with the Institute for Global Homelessness, Unicef USA, Malala Fund and Social Bite.
