WeWork confirms chief architect exit

WeWork’s chief architect Bjarke Ingels is no longer working for the firm, the co-working giant has confirmed.

The news comes as the Danish design superstar faces growing criticisms over his meeting with right-wing Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro.

The co-working company confirmed in a statement that Ingels, whose firm has been behind high-profile projects including 2 World Trade Centre and Google’s London headquarters, is no longer chief architect at the company, but WeWork continues to work with his company “on a project basis”.

Ingels has recently caused controversy with his decision to meet with Jair Bolsonaro earlier this month to discuss developing the country’s sustainable tourism destinations – even though the president’s track record on climate change issues has been criticised.
