A former swingers club in Somerset failed to sell at Clive Emson’s West Country sale last week, despite the auctioneer announcing its highest February sales for four years.
Croydon Hall (pictured) in Rodhuish, near Minehead, a 15-bedroom country estate which until recently specialised in adult parties run by Exclusively Silks Swingers Club, failed to meet its £1.2m-£1.5m guide price at the sale on 13 February and is currently available for £1.5m.
The hotel retreat is set in 5.87 acres of formal gardens and, according to the Exclusively Silks website, currently includes bespoke decorations including a Fifty Shades of Grey-inspired Red Room, a pole-dancing pole and exotic art on the walls.
The property was originally put up for sale in August 2019 for £2.2m through Humberts.
Elsewhere, however, the 18th century, four-storey former Lord Duncan pub in Chatham, Kent, sold under the hammer for £115,000 after being offered without reserve.
In total, the auction, which took place across five days in five venues, raised £20m, with 136 lots sold of the 171 offered, equating to a success rate of 80%.
Clive Emson’s next auction will take place between 23 and 27 March in Chelmsford, Detling, Whiteley, Saltash and Brighton.
