The Wigley Group has unveiled plans to turn the former site of the Daimler works in Coventry into a residential-led mixed-use scheme.
The Warwickshire-based developer is working up plans for a scheme of up to 600 homes at the Sandy Lane Industrial Estate, which was previously home to one of the world’s first car factories.
Daimler Wharf will comprise a mix of one- to three-bedroom apartments and 25,000 sq ft of commercial space, for independent enterprises and co-working on the seven-acre site bordering Coventry Canal.
The Wigley Group has revised the number of homes from initial plans for 200 homes last year.
It is currently conducting pre-application consultation with Coventry City Council and other stakeholders.
James Davies, managing director of the Wigley Group, said: “Daimler Wharf is an opportunity to reinvigorate a community by providing a new central hub with the right mix of uses that connects to the canal and the city centre, and celebrates Coventry’s industrial past and cultural future.”
