Slaughter & May appoints agent on potential HQ move

Slaughter & May has brought in Knight Frank to advise on options as it weighs up relocating its London headquarters.

The magic circle law firm’s lease expires in June 2026.

The firm has been in its current home at 1 Bunhill Row, EC1, for more than 20 years.

It prelet the entire office in 1998 at around £40 per sq ft, according to Radius Data Exchange.

Kuwaiti-backed property company St Martins Corporation owns the building, having bought it in 2012 from ING Insurance and Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board for around £180m – a yield of more than 5.5%.

The news follows last month’s confirmation that fellow magic circle law firm Linklaters is moving from One Silk Street, EC2, into more than 300,000 sq ft at 20 Ropemaker, EC2.

Slaughter & May has been contacted for comment. Knight Frank declined to comment.
