CBRE names new global corporate development boss

CBRE has promoted Emma Giamartino to executive vice president for corporate development, overseeing the company’s global M&A activity.

Her appointment comes after global group president and chief investment officer Jim Groch last month announced plans to leave CBRE on 30 June. Groch worked at CBRE for 35 years.

Giamartino’s new role will take effect on 1 June.

She has led the company’s M&A team in the US since joining CBRE in February 2018, and has played a leadership role in a number of acquisitions including Telford Homes and FacilitySource.

Giamartino is also credited with an “instrumental” role in launching the company’s flexible workspace business Hana, in late 2018.

Before she joined CBRE, Giamartino was director of corporate development at Verizon Communications.

She was also previously a senior investment banker in Nomura’s technology, media and telecommunications group.

Bob Sulentic, president and chief executive at CBRE, said: “Emma has been a major contributor to the corporate development team and has formed great relationships with our business leaders across CBRE.

“Her strong background in investment banking and M&A, combined with the deep knowledge of CBRE she has gained over the past two years, will enable her to do great things as our corporate development leader.”
