AHL success rate hits 88%

Auction House London achieved an 88% success rate at its second live-stream auction, raising more than £10.6m.

Despite no physical viewings due to Covid-19, the auctioneer sold 51 lots catalogued for the 6 May auction. Some 27 of these were sold prior, 19 during the auction and five post-auction, with more sales pending.

Auctioneer Andrew Binstock said the sale demonstrated that video walkthroughs and well-priced lots were still attracting huge interest from buyers.

A ground-floor vacant flat in Redhill, Surrey (lot 1) proved particularly popular, attracting 39 unique registered bidders. It sold for £190,500 off a guide of £80,000.

The chance to convert a 26-metre high former water tower in Newark, Nottinghamshire, (lot 27) into flats was snapped up for £145,000 against a guide of £50,000. The property has consent for two flats in the existing structure plus 11 new build flats on the same site.

A vacant three-bedroom house in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, (lot 40) sold for £317,500 from a guide of £280,000. In Kensington, W8, a vacant studio flat (lot 8) was snapped up for £200,000 against a guide of £175,000.

AHL’s next live-stream auction will be on 17 June.
