Cushman head of PRS quits to lead housebuilder

Jack Simmons, Cushman & Wakefield’s head of residential investment and PRS, has left the firm to join housebuilder Stonegate Homes as managing director.

Simmons was an international partner and the lead for residential investment and PRS at Cushman, since joining in September 2013. He has two decades of experience in residential development and investment.

He previously co-founded the residential development and investment business at JLL and spent 12 years at the company. Before this, he established the residential business at DTZ.

His clients have included Morrisons, Aberdeen Standard, Europa Capital and St Congar.

Simmons replaces founding director Stephen Curwen, who has left the housebuilder after 10 years.

The Surrey-based business specialises on acquiring brownfield sites and buildings in the South of England for residential redevelopment, from small schemes to larger urban regenerations. It was started in 2010 with backing from private high-net-worth individuals.

Over the past 18 months, Stonegate Homes has amassed around £100m in with a gross development value of £500m. It is actively pursuing new acquisition opportunities.

Chief executive and founder Jerry Hines said: “While the current climate is challenging we have purchased three sites in the last month and we are keen to do more.

“With Jack joining the team this gives us strong leadership and superb access to his development and PRS forward funding skillsets in driving our business forward.”

Simmons left Cushman & Wakefield at the end of last year. He has been succeeded by Mark Clegg as head of residential investment and PRS. Clegg joined Cushman in December, after three years as a senior director in CBRE’s residential capital markets and almost a decade at Knight Frank prior to this.
