Developer St Modwen has appointed former Legal & General and Cala Homes executive James Lidgate as its new senior director for strategic land and planning.
Lidgate will take up an initial 12-month contract at the firm’s strategic land and regeneration division, which focuses on master-developing residential communities, including releasing land for housebuilding and other housing tenures, and regeneration projects.
At St Modwen, Lidgate will support the ongoing development of major residential schemes and drive future initiatives.
Lidgate left L&G Homes last month. In his previous role, he developed and delivered the business plan for L&G Homes, creating its first wholly owned housebuilding arm, as well as managing its strategic land portfolio.
Since his departure, developer Milligan Retail has appointed Lidgate to oversee its residential strategy, operating under his own consultancy Wraxhall.
Guy Gusterson, managing director of strategic land and regeneration at St Modwen, said: “With his blend of housebuilding, mixed-tenure and strategic land experience, James joins us at an opportune time to help develop our approach to creating future communities that respond to the evolving needs of customers.
“James will support new and existing projects, and further strengthen our relationships with strategic partners as we look at new opportunities.”
