Berkeley Group and Barratt Developments were among the top risers in the FTSE 100 today, posting gains of almost 3% and 2% respectively.
In the FTSE 250, McCarthy & Stone rose by 7.5%, one of the best performances of the day.
At 4.61p, shares in intu are now at a month-low, dropping almost 8% today as a deadline to reach a deal with lenders nears – the steepest fall of any REIT during the session.
The FTSE 100 closed down 0.8% at 6,244 points. The FTSE 250 was down 0.6% at 17,573.
