Gyms and swimming pool operator have demanded to know why they will not be permitted to reopen on 4 July.
Gym operators have called the decision “illogical” and “short-sighted”.
“Many will fail to understand how pubs, restaurants, cinemas, museums and hair salons have been given the go-ahead to open on 4 July but not chlorine-filled swimming pools,” Jane Nickerson, chief executive of Swim England, said.
