Housebuilders posted some of the largest gains on the London Stock Exchange today, with notable rises following plummeting stocks yesterday (24 June).
Countrywide led the charge, rising by 14.71% to 101p during the session, making up for an 11.06% decline during yesterday’s trading.
It was followed by Crest Nicholson, which ended the session up by 7.12% at 219.8p after its shares fell by 18.1% yesterday.
The market was more downbeat for commercial landlords with the arrival of quarter rent day. Helical was among the biggest fallers, dropping by 5.55% to 323.5p, while Schroder’s European REIT fell 4.31% to 71p.
The FTSE 100 nudged up by 0.38% to 6,147.14 and the FTSE ended the day down 0.23% at 17,112.12.
