BT has added Dundee to the growing list of locations the company is looking to establish hubs in as parts of its mega office consolidation programme.
The telecommunications giant said it is planning to “review its property options in the city”, where it currently employs around 1,200 people.
This could involve the company looking to set up a new hub and is working with partners, including Dundee City Council, to look at its options.
BT also announced its main Glasgow office is set for a multi-million pound refurbishment to create a hub in the city, and it expects to move hundreds of staff into the building over the next few years.
Graeme Paton, BT’s managing director, property and facility services, said: “Our new and refurbished office locations in Scotland will bring our people together in impressive and modern environments, transforming the way we work. Our colleagues will benefit from working in future-fit offices.”
Last June, EG revealed JLL had been picked to advise BT on its plans to consolidate more than 300 of its UK offices to around 30.
The telecoms giant is planning to shrink its office portfolio by 90% as part of its Better Workplace programme.
Eight other cities have also been announced as locations for hubs, which includes: Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Ipswich (Adastral Park), London and Manchester.
