A serviced office operator is betting that companies will be keen to move outside of London in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Weston Business Centres is launching flexible workspace at refurbished outlets in Stansted and Colchester, marketing them to what the company expects to be “an influx” of small businesses moving outside of the capital.
Richard Kuyper, managing director of Weston Business Centres, said: “We foresee a growing demand for this kind of office space as small businesses look to cut costs and protect staff by relocating out of London or provide team members with an office option outside of London.”
Weston Business Centres joins a growing list of property owners and operators anticipating a shift in office take-up due to Covid-19.
McKay Securities has said the South East office market could benefit from occupiers looking away from London, while Palace Capital chief executive Neil Sinclair told EG last week that he believes the government’s ‘levelling up’ agenda will also encourage occupiers to take space in the regions rather than in the capital.
