Manchester City Council is recommended to approve Downing Developments’ 2,224-bed co-living scheme, making it the largest development of its kind in the UK.
The scheme at First Street comprises four buildings of between 10 and 45 storeys designed by SimpsonHaugh and Partners.
It includes 875 studios and 609 flats designed for communal living. There is also a cinema, co-working space, health and wellbeing facilities, a cafe, kitchens, a dining area and a residents’ lounge.
Downing Developments acquired the site from Patrizia last year. A planning approval would supersede Patrizia’s earlier consent for 624 flats, which it previously planned as its first BTR development in the UK.
The council will debate the planning application next Thursday (30 July).
