Capital & Centric has secured £17m funding from Liverpool City Region Combined Authority for its £54m Littlewoods Studios film studio scheme.
The funds will be used to redevelop the Littlewoods Building on Edge Lane in Liverpool into a new film studio, which will see anchor tenant Twickenham Studios, which has invested £50m into the development, take up 85,000 sq ft at the site.
Temporary pop-up studios will be built on land neighbouring the site, which will be operational at the end of the year.
The project is part of Liverpool City Region’s £8.8bn post-Covid-19 recovery plan, which included the city asking central government for a £200m development boost.
Adam Higgins, co-founder of Capital & Centric, said: “This funding just goes to show what a huge opportunity Littlewoods Studios is. Not only is it a key project within the Liverpool City Region’s economic recovery plan, it will deliver long-lasting regeneration impacts for generations to come.”
It marks the latest step in the scheme’s comeback, after a fire destroyed the floors and roof of the Littlewoods building in September 2018.
