Isolate in style: Three Solent forts for sale

Three 19th-century Solent forts are up for sale for anyone seeking to self-isolate like a Bond villain.

The forts – Spitbank, No Man’s and Horse Sand – are being sold as (very) private residences by Mike Clare, the founder and former owner of the Dreams bed company.

The largest property, No Man’s, covers 99,000 sq ft. It features restaurants, themed bars, hot tubs and a sundeck that can accommodate 20 people, and three helicopter pads. It has 23 bedrooms, which can be rented out individually, and is on the market for £4.3m.

Spitbank, which is closer to the mainland, has a price tag of £4m and comprises 33,000 sq ft over three floors and has nine bedrooms. Its courtyard features two decommissioned missiles from the 1970s.

For those wanting to create their own lair, Horse Sand is a derelict, 99,000 sq ft blank canvas, that has remained essentially unchanged since WW2. It has lapsed planning to convert into 14 flats and is on the market for £750,000.
