Gerald Eve awarded UCL mandate

Gerald Eve has been awarded a three-year contract to manage University College London’s entire property portfolio.

The mandate will see Gerald Eve provide the university with a full range of advisory services, including real estate strategy, acquisitions and disposals, leasing, town planning, estate management and valuations.

UCL is one of the largest non-government occupiers in central London, with more than 1.4m sq ft of space across some 270 individual properties across the city.

This includes its main campus in Bloomsbury (pictured) and UCL East at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, as well as space in Canary Wharf, Here East in Hackney and Dagenham.

Its buildings are used for research and teaching, as well as providing office and community space.

UCL employs 13,000 academic and operational staff and provides education to 44,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Megan Putt, senior estates surveyor at UCL, said: “We have a long-standing existing relationship with Gerald Eve in areas such as rating, lease consultancy and corporate real estate advisory, and have always been impressed not only by the level of service we have received but also by the innovation and adaptability the firm shows in its thinking.

“At a time of shifting dynamics, there are some huge opportunities and challenges within our portfolio, and this expanded relationship will help UCL realise the efficiencies and wider benefits that will help position the university for future success.”

James Southey, partner at Gerald Eve, added: “This mandate win underlines not only the full range of capabilities we hold but also our success in collaborating both internally and externally to generate the very best outcomes for clients.

“UCL holds the most prestigious university estate in London, and its choice of Gerald Eve as corporate real estate adviser follows our investment over many years to strengthen, widen and diversify the range of services we can offer.”
