Barratt, Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey all made it into the FTSE 100’s top fallers today, after the Competition and Markets Authority announced it was launching enforcement cases against all three, as well as against Countryside.
Barratt fell by 6.97% to 501.8p, Persimmon by 5.23% to 2,503p, and Taylor Wimpey by 4.96% to 114.85p. Countryside saw its share price fall by 4.48% to 311p.
Other housebuilders not included in the CMA announcement also saw share price falls.
Berkeley’s share price dipped by 3.72% to 4,475p, also pushing it also into the FTSE 100’s top fallers despite the company reporting it was on track to hit a pre-tax profit of £500m for the year. Redrow’s share price slipped by 1.36% to 451p and Crest Nicholson dropped by 2.62% to 189.4p.
Other FTSE 100 fallers included Rightmove, which fell by 3.8% to 607p per share. Hammerson was the real estate sector’s top faller with a 7.69% drop to 265.2p, and Panther Securities property was biggest riser with an 8.89% increase to 245p.
The FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 both nudged down, by 0.89% to 5,799 points and 0.60% to 17,354 points respectively.
