L&G acquires site for £100m retirement village

Legal & General’s later living business Inspired Villages, has acquired a 10-acre site in Hampshire for a £100m retirement village.

The site will see 151 new homes and a wellness centre developed. It will be Inspired Villages’ second scheme in Hampshire because of the “vast disparity between supply and demand in the area” for specialist housing, the company said.

Construction is expected to start early next year.

Chairman of Inspired Villages and chief executive of Later Living at Legal & General, Phil Bayliss, said: “We need to advance and accelerate the UK’s delivery of age-appropriate homes to meet our rapidly ageing population. This is not only crucial for wellbeing, but also for helping our overburdened NHS and social care services.”
