Louise Brooke-Smith OBE is to join housing association L&Q’s group board and chair its development committee.
The former RICS global president will join the group board from 1 October. She replaces RICS chief economist Simon Rubinsohn, who will step down at the end of this month after nine years in the role.
Brooke-Smith was previously partner and UK head of development and strategic planning at Arcadis. She currently serves on a number of boards, including the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP, the Land Trust and Polypipe Group.
L&Q group chair Aubrey Adams said: “Her vast experience in public and private sector roles, both in the UK and overseas, will be invaluable as L&Q develops and delivers a new corporate strategy that will guide our social mission over the next five years and beyond.”
Her appointment follows the announcement that L&Q chief executive David Montague will leave the company before the end of the financial year. The housing association will search for a new chief executive over the coming months to take over from Montague after more than three decades with the company.
