General Projects enters Manchester with mega office plans

General Projects has made its entrance to the Manchester market with plans to build more than 350,000 sq ft of office space across five buildings.

The site, located in New Islington along the Ashton Canal, will see former industrial land turned into three eight-storey buildings and two five-storey buildings.

It has been earmarked for a commercial-led development by Manchester City Council since the 1990s.

It is expected more than two acres of public realm will be delivered, and Pollard Street will have a car-free policy, providing 550 bike spaces.

Jacob Loftus, founder and chief executive of General Projects said: “We hope to set a new benchmark for delivering transformative social value through the built environment.

“We’re currently liaising with Manchester City Council and other local partners in order to ensure every aspect of the scheme helps support the local area, whether that’s through job creation or improving the local environment.”
