British Land and Landsec were among the biggest fallers on the FTSE 100 today, after the government unveiled a three-tier lockdown system to tackle the rise in Covid-19 cases.
Shares at BL fell by 4.6% to 355.6p, while Landsec was down by 4% to 536.1p.
Other stock exchange fallers included FTSE 250 housebuilder Vistry Group, which closed down 5.9% to 583p.
However, major supermarkets enjoyed a boost in trading. Tesco’s shares climbed by 1.5% to 222.4p; Morrison’s posted a 1.3% rise to 174.6p; and Sainsbury’s closed up around 1.1% at 202.5p.
The FTSE 100 dipped by 0.5% over the session, closing at 5,969.71, while the FTSE 250 was down 1.5% at 17,891.01.
