John Lewis is looking to diversify beyond retail, Dame Sharon White has said.
The chair of the John Lewis partnership said that, while it was premature to sound the death-knell for the high street, the department store chain needed to find “some balanced sources of profit”.
Among the proposals are plans to turn excess shop space into housing.
