Watkin Jones appoints new chief exec to property management arm

Student accommodation and build-to-rent developer Watkin Jones has appointed Quintain Living’s former chief operating officer Jeremy Fletcher to lead its property management business.

Fletcher will take over the role of chief executive of Fresh Property Group in 2021, when current chief executive Rebecca Hopewell will retire.

He worked at Quintain Living, formerly Tipi for almost two years. Prior that this he was chief operating officer for data insights firm Kantar’s UK and Ireland business.

Fletcher will work closely with Watkin Jones’ chief executive Richard Simpson to grow the business, which currently comprises 17,721 homes under management across 64 schemes.

Watkin Jones is well-established as a student accommodation investor, developer and operator, but has more recently focused on expanding its BTR portfolio.

This summer it acquired a prime site in Glasgow for the city’s largest BTR scheme, with 750 homes at Portcullis House and has upcoming schemes in Birmingham and Bath. It also recently secured planning for 216 flats at its Hove Garden scheme, which it will hold for 30 years.

Simpson said: “Rebecca has been the driving force behind the creation of a recognised leader in the residential for rent property management sector. Stepping into her shoes, we are fortunate to have an established business leader with a track record of success built on the combination of strategic insight, operational experience and consumer-driven innovation.”
