Charity and social: IM fund boosts local community groups

The Mercia Park Community Fund has awarded more than £90,000 to 18 local organisations in north-west Leicestershire in its first round of grants.

Managed by Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation, the fund was set up by developer IM Properties to create a positive social impact in the communities surrounding its Mercia Park scheme.

The grants of up to £5,000 are being awarded to projects which strengthen communities or improve the natural environment. These have included a green gym and an organisation looking to support post-operative cancer patients.
