Sue Clayton, an executive director at CBRE and founding member of the agency’s UK Women’s Network, is retiring from the business at the end of the year.
Clayton has spent 40 years at CBRE, having joined Richard Ellis as a graduate in the valuation and fund management team.
She was promoted to equity partner at Richard Ellis in 1994, becoming head of national investment in 1998 and managing director for capital markets after Insignia Richard Ellis was acquired in 2003.
More recently, Clayton led the key account management for several clients including M&G Real Estate. She is also a non-executive director at SEGRO and Helical, and a member of the management committee at Hermes Property Unit Trust.
Clayton has also served on the UK management board and the UK executive board, and currently sits on CBRE’s strategy board. She has also held a role on CBRE’s group board as an employee director observer.
Clayton was a founder of the CBRE UK Women’s Network in 2005, of which she is chair. Under her leadership, CBRE’s Family Friendly Network was set up as well as many of the agent’s family-friendly policies.
She additionally co-founded nonprofit association Real Estate Balance, of which she is a director; is a member of the Women’s Network Forum; and is a trustee of the Reading Real Estate Foundation with its Pathways to Property initiative.
