Parabola has been granted planning consent for Edinburgh Park, comprising 1,737 homes, including Scotland’s largest build-to-rent scheme.
The developer lodged detailed plans in May, proposing 19 buildings over 33 acres, said to be the largest development in Edinburgh in a decade.
It includes 1,180 build-to-rent flats in nine buildings, of which 274 will be affordable, pepper-potted across two sites in the north and south of the development. A further 397 private-sale homes will be located in five buildings, with 160 social-rented homes in a separate building to be managed by a registered provider.
The plans incorporate over 460,000 sq ft of commercial space and a 170-bed apartment hotel.
Tony Hordon, managing director of Parabola, said: “At the heart of this application, one of the largest and most detailed considered by the council in the past decade, is our commitment to create a new community which provides a variety of high-quality homes to meet the growing needs of the city, including a vital element of affordable accommodation.
“The residential component will complement the range of other uses to create a new urban quarter of the city creating an exemplar with a commitment to wellbeing at its core.”
