Retirement home builder McCarthy & Stone has been given the green light for a £33m development of 60 properties at Canford Cliffs in Dorset.
The scheme will be made up of a mix of one- and two-bedroom flats set inside a garden complex, with round-the-clock assistance available for residents.
Shane Paull, McCarthy & Stone’s southern division managing director, said the scheme would help address the “vast undersupply” of suitable housing for elderly people.
Construction will start next year.
