UK stocks dropped on Monday as investor concerns mounted over the economic hit of a new coronavirus strain, as well as ongoing worries about a no-deal Brexit. The FTSE 100 shed 1.7% to finish the day on 6,416 points, while the FTSE 250 lost 2.1% to close at 19,692.
Real estate companies posted the steepest falls across the broad FTSE All-Share index, led by Capital & Regional, which was down by 11.8% at 55.6p.
Hammerson was just behind, with a fall of 11.7% to 22.81p. Joining them in the exchange’s table of the 10 steepest FTSE All-Share falls was NewRiver REIT, which lost 10.4% to finish the day at 76.6p.
