South Ribble Borough Council has granted planning consent to Caddick Developments for a 612,500 sq ft logistics and industrial scheme in Farington, Lancashire.
The scheme, designed by Yorkshire-based architects KPP, will provide a mix of industrial and logistics space with ancillary offices. It is expected to create more than 1,000 full-time jobs, as well as another 460 in the supply chain.
The developer pointed to a logistics supply shortage in the North West market, highlighting that take-up in the wider market has risen by 64% to more than 30m sq ft in 2020 compared with the previous year.
Steve Widdowson, North West director of Caddick Developments, said the project will “contribute to the economic recovery of the region from the Covid-19 pandemic, through the creation of hundreds of local jobs”.
NJL Consulting is the planning consultant on the scheme. Knight Frank and Cushman & Wakefield have been appointed as its leasing agents.
