Charity and social: Get uncomfortable at home for LandAid

LandAid is calling on the property industry to sleep out on 11 March to raise funds for projects supporting young homeless people across the country.

This year, owing to social distancing rules, participants will “sleep out at home” – in your garden, patio, balcony, or the most uncomfortable place you can inside your home, such as the bath, shower or kitchen floor.

LandAid chief executive Paul Morrish says: “We are taking the LandAid SleepOut virtual, to give everyone the opportunity to brave one cold night outside to end youth homelessness. The last few months have been difficult for us all, but in particular for young homeless people.

Launched by the developer in 2017 with the aim of giving £150,000 to local community projects over three years, the fund was extended for a further year in 2020.

Last year’s grants were awarded to nine local initiatives, including music and theatre groups, allotment gardening sessions, a robotics and coding learning programme and a family art project.

Colliers staff embark on virtual circumnavigation

Colliers International UK’s employees are virtually walking and running the collective distance of 27,900km in 80 days in the Colliers Around the World in 80 Days challenge. The sponsored event aims to raise £27,900, matching the number of kilometres travelled, for charities Mind, LandAid and the Trussell Trust. The challenge concludes on 31 March.
