The Port of London Authority has hired a new head of estates to drive its land and property strategies.
Oster Milambo will take on the role following the retirement of John Ball after 16 years at the PLA.
Milambo has 14 years’ experience leading local government development projects and investment strategies.
He was a director at Capstone Real Estate, working on sustainable income streams through commercial and residential acquisitions. Prior to this he spent more than five years at Buckinghamshire County Council.
At the PLA he will expand the income diversification strategy, including unlocking development sites and enabling freight transport on the River Thames.
Julie Tankard, chief financial officer at the PLA, said: “Our reactivation of the protected Peruvian, Plaistow and Primrose Wharves in east London is a solid, long-term income stream and underlines our commitment to maximising the commercial success of the river, whilst also protecting the environment.”
