Nearly 40,000 property millionaires were created last year and almost all outside London, according to new research.
There are now 563,240 homes worth more than £1m in Britain — the first time that the number of properties worth over £1m has grown since 2015.
Of the 39,629 new property millionaires created in 2020, just 6,657 were in the capital.
Savills said the majority of 2020s property millionaires were in the South East of England, where 13,972 joined the club. At the other end of the scale were Wales, with 400, and the North East, with just 231.
