Former Liberty department store reopens as flexible office

Regent Street has got its first shared office space at Liberty House, W1, with the opening of The Office Group’s latest flexible working site.

The Grade II listed site, which used to belong to neighbouring department store Liberty London, is the latest addition to the company’s 50-plus portfolio of workplaces.

In 2019, TOG took out a 20-year lease on the building, which comprises nearly 35,000 sq ft of workspace across five floors.

Bosses hope the site’s proximity to Oxford Street will attract clients ranging from start-ups to big corporates.

Having refurbished the space with architect SODA, TOG said it had installed an “enhanced air-handling system,” as well as meeting rooms fitted to accommodate simultaneous in-person and video meetings.

TOG boss Charlie Green said: “The pandemic has pushed all of us to rethink the way in which we live and work, but the office will still have a central role to play. Liberty House’s fresh, original and vibrant design will serve as a welcome change from the home office after lockdown.

“We’re seeing a growing number of businesses acknowledging the value in flexible work spaces for both business growth and looking after the wellbeing of their employees. We’re thrilled to be able to offer Liberty House to our members.”
