The latest building at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, on the southern outskirts of the city, has been given the go-ahead by planning officials.
A joint venture between Liberty Property Trust and Countryside Properties has received approval for its £65m 1000 Discovery Drive, a speculative five-storey building that will include 103,000 sq ft of laboratory and office space.
The building will be the second in phase two of the campus, which has outline planning permission for 400,000 sq ft of life science development. It will sit alongside the recently completed 100,000 sq ft Abcam building, with work on-site expected to start in the summer.
Andrew Blevins, managing director of Liberty Property Trust, said: “Our vision is to enrich and enhance occupier diversity and amenity on the campus, so becoming an ever more sustainable ecosystem for visitors, scientists, entrepreneurs, academics and clinicians, building on the ‘clustering’ effect we have created over the past decade.”
Letting consultants for 1000 Discovery Drive are Bidwells, Savills and Creative Places.
