French say ‘non’ to Charles de Gaulle expansion

Plans to expand Paris’s Charles de Gaulle airport have been scrapped after falling foul of French climate commitments.

The proposals for a fourth terminal will now be rethought to take into account “green planes” powered by hydrogen and biofuels sourced from seaweed and rubbish.

Aéroports de Paris (ADP), the French capital’s airport operator, had planned to spend between €7bn and €9bn on a fourth terminal capable of handling between 35m and 40m passengers a year by 2037.
