Stalker walks from Marston’s after third failed bid

The private equity firm stalking Marston’s has walked away after its £690m third bid was rejected.

Platinum Equity Advisors had offered 105p-a-share, following earlier offers of 88p and 95p, but the Marston’s board unanimously agreed that this still “very significantly” undervalued the business.

Marston’s has about 1,500 managed, franchised and leased pubs.
